Driven by a natural curiosity and a desire to make things better, Siri has always been drawn to solving problems that matter, and engineering gave her the tools to turn that passion into impact first through her studies, and now in her role at Transurban. Today, she’s focused on building secure, scalable cloud solutions that help keep people and systems safe, while staying connected to the bigger picture.
What sparked your interest in engineering and led you to pursue it as a career?
From a young age, I’ve always been passionate about solving problems and helping others. Pursuing my bachelor's and master's degree in engineering deepened my appreciation for how engineering empowers us to build innovative solutions. Currently at Transurban, I am channeling this passion into building robust secure solutions to make a meaningful impact.
How did your journey in engineering evolve into a focus on cloud security?
My journey into security began during my master’s degree internship on a cyber security project, where I discovered how vast and interesting the cyber field is. In my previous role, I worked partly in security, which deepened my appreciation for its importance. Since joining Transurban, that passion has only grown and strengthened.
And I truly enjoy applying engineering principles to build secure solutions and custom guardrails. Overall, it’s rewarding to contribute to Transurban’s security mission through engineering by building resilient solutions that help safeguard our systems and data from evolving threats.
What has been a career highlight or achievement in engineering/STEM?
One of my proudest achievements in STEM was being selected to attend AWS re:Invent in the U.S., fully funded by AWS. Out of many applicants, I was among the few who were awarded a grant that covered travel, accommodation, and event access. It was an incredible opportunity to engage with global tech leaders and deepen my cloud expertise.
Are there any women in STEM who inspire or motivate you?
I’m inspired not just by one individual, but by all the women in our leadership team. Their stories shared during Women in Technology/ STEM sessions highlight the resilience and dedication it takes to balance professional and personal life. Their journeys continually motivate me to grow, develop leadership skills, and one day inspire other young women to pursue careers in STEM.
Lastly, how has Transurban supported your career as an engineer?
Transurban has played a key role in shaping my journey as a cloud security engineer. From designing and deploying enterprise-wide security solutions to tackling evolving cloud challenges. I’ve grown significantly in both technical skills and confidence. I’m grateful for the continuous learning opportunities Transurban provides and I look forward to growing even further.
